Monica Mainwaring

  • The Rev. Monica Burns Mainwaring is rector of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Brookhaven.  She previously served as Vicar of Church of the Common Ground in Atlanta.  She eats lemons like apples during the winter cold and flu season, and appreciates leftovers.  An Episcopal camp outside San Diego, Camp Stevens, collects all campers' food waste in a tub and weighs it each day to inspire waste-reduction, then it's fed to the pigs. Monica is enthralled with this, but cannot as of yet get her husband Simon, rector of All Saints' in Atlanta, or her three teenage children, to do this each night...to be fair, they live in Midtown and don't have pigs.

Our Call To Serve

Ethics of Abundance in a Broken Food System

In a world where so many hunger and, at the same time, so many toss food as if it is rubbish, it is clear our food system is broken.
